ASHIATSU FUSION
Barefoot massage, believed to have originated in India, has evolved through Asia and beyond before being introduced to the Western world as Ashiatsu. In this unique technique, the therapist uses overhead bars for support while delivering the massage with their feet. This method provides broad, fluid contact that glides effortlessly over bony areas like the spine, while effectively targeting the surrounding tissues. The therapist also leans back on a silk strap to access different angles of the muscles with their feet. In this fusion approach, Ashiatsu is combined with Swedish and deep tissue techniques, hot towels, cupping, and hot stones to enhance the warm-up and focus on specific areas. Trigger point therapy, using either the therapist’s feet or hands, is also applied to address troublesome spots and alleviate discomfort. The therapist’s arms, feet, bars, massage table, and floors are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each session.
Please note: Massages, especially deep tissue treatments, do not need to be painful to be effective. If you're flinching through the pain, it can lead to muscle guarding, which is counterproductive. There’s no studies showing that aggressive treatments are more effective. I prefer to work deeply yet gently. All massage styles engage the nervous system through touch, and some clients respond better to lighter pressure, while others benefit from deeper or slower work. A combination of techniques is often preferred by most.
